Hyrum Utah - Cache Valley Family Photography - Horse Crazy

We had so much fun photographing this cute family! We recently bumped into them again while photographing a wedding - The Clyde's - in Wyoming. Luckily they don't live too far away and so we spent a perfect summer evening photographing them. Their children have the longest eye lashes and lots of personality!

Again...check out their clothing! Perfect. While not identical, it all worked well together without one person standing out more than another.

I have a suggestion for those of you looking forward to fall family photos, engagements, and bridals - if you want to get your photos done in the canyons with the red leaves you will need to book soon. Our phone has been ringing off the hook! And the window of opportunity is short. If you are looking for photos with the yellow leaves and more in the valley, you have a little more time. Just be careful to not wait too long. If we get a snow or heavy rain, the leaves will be gone in a hurry.

Having said that - now is the time to shop for fall clothing. I recommend burgundy, chocolate brown, moss green, oatmeal, dark orange. Avoid bright colors unless you really want to blend in. I'll post a few examples soon.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Clarkston Utah Family Photography

We have had so much fun meeting and photographing families in Clarkston, Utah. We recently photographed the T* family on their land in Clarkston, Utah.

Another emphasis on clothing -I LOVE how they all dressed in dark denim and black shirts. You can really see their faces. And they have beautiful skin! And check out their smiles. Not only is this one amazing family, but they are good to the core. I met with Grandma C* and Grandpa F* today. He hugged her and they laughed and cried all the way through viewing their images. I was really impressed. You can see why their family is so wonderful!

Newborn Baby Boy - Hyrum, Utah Family Photographer

For many of our clients we become the one they trust to photograph their family for generations. Five years ago we photographed Derek and Andrea's wedding in Salt Lake City, Utah. And now I have photographed their newborn son. On Saturday we are photographing Andrea's sister's wedding in Rexburg, Idaho. We truly enjoy the friendships we've gained over the years and the trust our clients place in us.

This time I tried something new - texture and pattern in both blankets and backgrounds. Don't you just love the dark brown minkie dot? I'm collecting as many different colors as I can. I'm totally sold. It gives interest to the photograph without being too distracting. We want the baby to be center stage! I might have to paint my own polka dot background to get it in the size I want, but I love the colors in this one. Anyway, let us know what you think!

His simple onsies were perfect. His mother came with a large bag with blankets and outfits to sort through. Being prepared is key to a gorgeous newborn portrait.

We will be putting together a 20 page newborn album, so keep watching for that post.

What is your goal?

When it comes to family photos, what is your goal? This incredible family wanted to see each face as easily as possible. There are several ways to accomplish this. First of all, each family dressed in the same color. This also helped increase the feeling of unity among family members.

(There is a time and place for fun outfits. I recommend you choose small family groups or individual photo sessions as the time for that.)

Second, they chose to print the large family group as a 30x40 image. This allows you to see the faces in a group this size without having to squint or get too close.

One last but very important thought about family photos. Did you know that when you bring home that beautiful family portrait you are also increasing the self-esteem of every person in the photo - especially the children? Never under estimate the value of a family portrait. It really is worth the time and effort to get everyone together.

Slideshow of Wedding Photography near Freemont Lake Pinedale, Wyoming

You can see the mini slideshow on the left hand side of this blog, but I wanted to make it a regular blog post as well and include some music. We really enjoyed photographing at this unique location. It was also wonderful that it had extra meaning for the bride and groom. Because we are emotionally connected to our photographs, I know the feelings they will have each time they open their album will be wonderful.

What will make your wedding day extra special?
