Family History for your wall

Photo Preserves Class starts today! If you haven't signed up yet, you have a few more days.  Check out my class at ReneePearson.com

And since my class is about restoring old photos, I think it's a great idea to display them.

Looking for ways to display your family history photographs on the wall.  Here are a few ideas I found online with links.

I love this modern take on the family history tree.  It's 16x20 inches and holds up to six generations.

Or you might like this version of the family history tree.

Check out My Tree & Me

Or check out Geneartogy.com if you want a chart to share photos.

Family History Charts for displaying generations of names.

Here are some  name charts:

There are so many other ideas online.  If you'd like to share them with my just leave the link in the comments and I'll share them.

Hyrum City Royalty Pageant 2011

Click on the image to see it larger.

Tyler photographed the pageant and I made the program.  I think it turned out lovely with a beautiful handmade flourish and a great quote along with the program for the night. The girls were lovely and those who made a difference in their community and survived serious struggles, including one who survived cancer, were able to share their stories.

Tyler also photographed each girl individually and he also photographed the night as it went along.  I'll post a few favorites as soon as I get the chance to find out Tyler's favorites.

Registration Begins this Thursday!

I started chatting with Marly last year in about October.  We were getting ready to launch Photo Preserves for the first time.  She quickly said she could be my grandmother but I replied that I am older than I look and she was only a few years older than my mom.  She is a serious genealogist and we share an excitement for personal histories.  She is amazing. She even became a friend of mine on facebook.  She was already taking 2 other classes at ReneePearson.com  She was wondering if she'd have time to take mine as well.  I am certainly glad she did.  She attended every live chat and posted her before and after images in the Gallery at ReneePearson.com - we have a private gallery that only class members can see.  I asked her is she'd be willing to share a few photos with you.  I'll share them in two parts.  Here are a few of my favorites to get you started. Go Marly!

I'm particularly impressed with the color photograph.  It's really impressive. To go from so faded and flat to so vibrant and full of life. She did a fabulous job repairing the corner of her husband's sports photo, as well as the cracks and color.  Beautiful work Marly.  Thanks for sharing!

And I have to share her quote with you:
Genealogy - so many ancestors - so little time!

Photo Preserves Class - learn to fix your photos

Just a heads up! Photo Preserves registration is coming up.
Class will run for 2 weeks.  It is a work at your own pace class with video and live chats available online.
Read more about it HERE.
And just for fun I decided to share a little before and after from my own collection.

I recently started a family history blog for my  mom's side of the family and two other family members have scanned and emailed photos to me.  They have sent me enough photos to stay busy for a year. The cool thing is that one of them lives in Denmark and the other in Texas.  I never would have received those photos without this class and family blog. Dozens of family members have joined the blog. It's been great sharing photos and documents with each other and I've enjoyed restoring so many of them.
